After an attempted rape of a woman in Vienna’s Karlsplatz last year, police have now published photos of the alleged perpetrator. At the time, the victim had resisted so vigorously that the suspect let go of him and fled. Clues are asked: Who knows this man?
The crime happened shortly after 2 a.m. on August 13. The woman was sitting alone on a park bench near Karlsplatz when the man approached her and jumped on her. “The suspect was unable to undress the victim. Due to the violent resistance of the victim, the man let go of the woman and fled, police spokesman Philipp Haßlinger reported.
Two witnesses could see the alleged perpetrator flee, the woman suffered minor injuries in the attack.

The man is described as 5’6″ to 5’7″. He is muscular, has longer dark hair in a bun, a dark beard and has a tattoo on his right forearm. He spoke relatively good German, it was said. In fact, he was wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt with a red print, dark pants and white sneakers, and he was carrying a beige backpack.
Photos of the suspect have been released. Witnesses who saw the man before, during or after his escape are asked to contact the police.
