New details emerged after the bloody altercation in a Viennese apartment on Sunday. As reported, several young men got into a fight, three of them suffered serious stab wound injuries. While one suspect claims to have been asleep at the time of the crime, the second has so far remained silent about the incident.
The dispute escalated on Leopoldauer Strasse around noon on Sunday. Three of those present – all Syrians – suffered stab wounds in the upper body, one of them was even temporarily in danger. As the police said on Monday, the danger has now passed.
The police arrested two suspects on Sunday, a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old. The murder weapon, a kitchen knife with a plastic handle, had been secured.
One is silent, the other claims to have slept
The questioning of the suspects initially revealed little information about the background to the crime. The 22-year-old exercised his right to refuse to testify. The younger man claimed to have been asleep and only woke up from the argument. He then claims to have stepped in to mediate, wanting nothing to do with the stitches. Both were transferred to a prison after consultation with the public prosecutor’s office.
