US President Joe Biden has his first internal party competitor as he runs for the White House again. Marianne Williamson, 70, officially announced her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination on Saturday.
“The people in power don’t have solutions ready or don’t really support the solutions,” Williamson said at an event in the US capital Washington DC. The people with solutions, in turn, have no power. This needs to be changed. Your chances are considered almost hopeless.
Williamson wanted to sit in the White House for the Democrats as early as 2020. But she dropped out of the race for the party’s primary because of poor polling. There has been speculation in recent weeks that Williamson may want to run for the Democratic nomination again. In an interview last week, the bestselling author confirmed her intention to participate. In the past, she had also applied for another political office as an independent.
Biden: general intent, no official statement yet
US President Biden has not yet officially announced his intention to run again in the 2024 presidential election. However, the 80-year-old Democrat has expressed his general intention in the past. He is expected to throw his hat in the ring soon.
