Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posthumously honored a sniper killed in the Russian offensive war with the title “Hero of Ukraine”. The 42-year-old is “a man who will be forever remembered,” Selenskyj said in a video message in Kiev on Sunday. The shooting of the unarmed man had caused horror. According to Ukrainian sources, his identity has finally been clarified.

In a video leaked online last week, a man in a Ukrainian uniform puffs on a cigarette, exhales smoke, and shouts the Ukrainian military’s salute: “Glory to Ukraine.” Several shots are fired and the soldier falls to the ground. The video of the shooting by Russian-speaking men caused international consternation. It was probably originally uploaded to Telegram by Russian soldiers, but it has not yet been independently verified.
