Abandonment Continues – Tortoiseshell cat left in animal shelter to die

Date:

What’s going on in Carinthia? Leaving animals – especially cats and small animals – never ends. Animal shelters are sounding the alarm. In the Garden of Eden in Klagenfurt, even a terminally ill cat was simply laid down to die.

Animal rights activists in Carinthia are shocked by the increasing heartlessness. Leaving animals behind just never ends. The homes no longer know how to house the abandoned animals. “We have one to three animals in front of the site every day. Rabbits and guinea pigs have been abandoned more and more lately’, animal caretaker Dennis of the Garden of Eden animal shelter reacts appalled.

For example, a terminally ill tortoiseshell cat was simply left to die in front of the animal shelter. “Then tears came to my eyes. How can you do such a thing. We could only save the poor animal. At least I was able to hug her,” says the zookeeper.

Food donations are always welcome
In the Garden of Eden, more than a hundred cats currently need to be cared for. Most exposed and abandoned. “Fortunately, many animal lovers provide us with cat food. Because we need that more than ever. We can no longer cover the feed costs on our own,” says the animal keeper. who wants to help. Good quality cat food is needed regularly. In addition, of course, also food for small animals.

The animal protection activist also finds numerous indoor cats wandering desperately during their castration campaigns in the country. “This is how the owners prevent castration. It’s just sad,” said Erie Rochowansky of Tierschutz Aktiv.

Even cute puppies no longer find a home in Tiko Klagenfurt. Unfortunately, animal protection abroad also plays a role here. “Every second person has a foreign dog. We stay on our four-legged friends in the shelter. Where will this end?”
