Use in the Stubaital – crash with low shoes and sweatpants in the snow

Date:

Rested as in summer, a German wanted to hike to the Grawa waterfalls in Neustift on Wednesday afternoon – that went wrong!

It had snowed overnight, but that didn’t stop a German vacationer from hiking alone on the summer trail to Grawa Falls. He was wearing completely inappropriate low shoes and he was also inappropriately dressed in sweatpants.

20 meters fell
It happened as it was supposed to happen: the man slipped on snow or ice around 2:50 p.m. and fell about 20 meters. Fortunately, he was unharmed, but he was unable to go back and forth. There was a risk that he would fall further. So he sounded the alarm.

Safely recovered
The auxiliary helicopter Alpin 2 flew to the scene of the accident and rescued the German with the 40 meter long rope. According to information from the helicopter crew, the victim came off lightly with mild hypothermia.
