While the Israeli security forces already have their hands full with the wave of protests against a judicial reform planned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the violence by radical Palestinians is not abating either. On Saturday evening, a suspected attacker in the West Bank rammed his car into three Israelis, seriously injuring some of them.
According to the Israeli rescue service, the incident happened near the town of Beit Ummar north of Hebron. The driver of the car, a 23-year-old member of the Palestinian Security Authority, was shot dead in the incident, according to Haaretz newspaper. The victims were all in their twenties. One of the men was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The security situation in Israel and the Palestinian territories has long been extremely tense. Since the beginning of the year, 14 Israelis and a Ukrainian have been killed in attacks by Palestinians. During the same period, 87 Palestinians have died – they were shot during clashes with the Israeli army or after their own attacks.
