The anger is great in the Salzkammergut: in front of a museum, a previously unknown perpetrator sprayed a photo of the local artist Paul Jaeg von Gosau. He is disappointed with the “senseless act” and now has to fear a total financial loss.
There were no climate stickers or other activists, but apparently only vandals pursuing senseless destruction: in Bad Ischl, previously unknown perpetrators spray painted a photo of the local artist Paul Jaeg von Gosau, real name Paul Gamsjäger (74), at the city museum. The work was dismantled after an exhibition and prepared for transport by car.
“Only Briefly Unattended”
“It was only unattended for a short time when it happened,” the artist said in a statement to the “Krone” about the “senseless act” that happened when he wanted to take more pictures. The screen of 140 by 100 centimeters was sprayed with red paint around 10 a.m. on Monday. Value of the ruined painting: about 2500 euros. For the artist it is not only an emotional but also a financial loss. Since the photo had already been removed, the insurance coverage should no longer apply. The Bad Ischl police are now looking for the sprayer.
