Petersburg Murder: – Organization claims Tatarsky’s murder

Date:

After the attack in the Russian metropolis of Saint Petersburg, which killed regime-loyal Russian military blogger and propagandist Vladlen Tatarski, the National Republican Army took responsibility for the attack.

The confession letter was published by the Rospartizan telegram channel and was also distributed by former State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev, who now lives in Ukraine. This is reported by the independent Russian news portal “Meduza”.

Here is the literal letter: “On April 2, 2023, we launched a large-scale action against a group of Z activists and against the warmonger and propagandist Maxim Fomin, known as Vladlen Tatarsky. This action was prepared and carried out by us autonomously. We are not affiliated with foreign structures, let alone secret services, nor do we receive any support.”

The group stressed that the attack did not target civilians and that “all victims were active supporters of the war”. In addition, the National Republican Army called on Russian human rights activists to help Darya Trepova, who was arrested in this case, and other innocent people.

Bombing of Darya Dugina
In August 2022, Ponomaryev reported that the National Republican Army was behind the murder of philosopher Alexander Dugin’s daughter, Darya Dugina. Dugin is considered Putin’s whisperer or “brain”. However, at that time Ponomaryev could not provide any evidence. Dugina was killed by a car bomb near Moscow last August. The vehicle immediately caught fire and the 29-year-old journalist and political scientist didn’t stand a chance. On April 2, the day of Tatarski’s assassination attempt, the former deputy sheriff hinted to journalists that he knew about the “military blogger killers” but would wait for the group’s official statement.

National Republican Army
The National Republican Army (abbreviated: NRA) is classified as a Russian underground organization. It describes itself as a partisan movement aimed at overthrowing Putin’s regime. However, critics are not sure whether such a unified organization really exists.

Darya Trepova in custody
The Russian judiciary has now charged the arrested suspect Darya Trepova with terrorism. The 26-year-old is said to have given a bust with explosives to Vladlen Tatarski, whose real name was Maxim Fomin, on the orders of Ukraine in a Petersburg cafe. If convicted of terrorism, she faces life imprisonment. A court in Moscow on Tuesday imposed a pre-trial detention until June 2.

In an interrogation video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, the woman admitted to offering the statuette to Tatarski. However, she did not admit that she had murder plans. Her husband explained that his wife had assumed a bug had been fixed in the bust to eavesdrop on Tatarski. Ukraine has denied allegations of involvement in the case.
