Resident rescued – tealight-induced fire in a Styrian apartment

Large-scale action for the fire brigade on the night of Easter Sunday: Around midnight, a fire broke out in a six-storey residential building in Judenburg (Styria), shortly afterwards the entire apartment was on fire. The 83-year-old resident was eventually rescued.

Around midnight, alarm bells went off at the fire department. The helpers immediately rushed to the construction site in Judenburg. Dramatic scenes played out in the apartment building, because the affected apartment on the sixth floor was already completely on fire.

Resident injured in fire
The fire brigade was quickly on the scene and was able to bring the occupant of the affected apartment to safety with a rotating ladder. At the same time, an evacuation took place. The 83-year-old had to be taken to LKH Murtal with unknown injuries. No other people or animals were injured.

Tealight as the cause of the fire
The cause of the fire may have been a burning tea light. An investigation into the cause of the fire should confirm this suspicion.
The extent of the damage is unknown at this time.
