Emergency services in Vienna-Ottakring found a 34-year-old unconscious in a stairwell on Sunday morning. The man, who would have previously attended a “drug party” in the same house, was already severely hypothermic. He is said to have been pulled from the apartment by two friends the night before and “put down” in the elevator.
The rescuers immediately alerted the police and attended to the motionless 34-year-old, who was resuscitated. The two men were arrested shortly afterwards. According to the police, the two suspects of not providing help are a 33-year-old and a 38-year-old. They are also charged with aggravated theft, various document and drug offenses.
Dropped off in the elevator
“They would have pulled the man out of the apartment and into the elevator the night before. Because the 34-year-old was still in the elevator in the morning, they called the emergency services. The 34-year-old is in a life-threatening condition in a hospital,” said police spokesman Philipp Hasslinger.
‘Severely hypothermic and under the influence of drugs’
“According to the professional rescue service, the person was severely hypothermic and must have been under the influence of drugs,” said Haßlinger. The man turned out to have been a guest at a party in one of the apartments in the apartment building the day before.
During a house search, drugs were found in the apartment, but also the handbag of the 34-year-old – he had ‘fallen asleep’ without identification. In addition, presumably forged blank prescriptions have been seized.
