Commuters at the train station in Gramatneusiedl, Bruck an der Leitha district in Lower Austria, were surprised around 06:00 on Tuesday morning: the station was flooded due to heavy rainfall and a construction site. Again. ÖBB customers are angry.
“Krone” reader Andrea E. is annoyed: “That was the second time in a few days! It’s really not easy being a commuter.” She also couldn’t get hold of the hotline, but as a foresight she brought garbage bags with her this time and boarded the train with reasonably dry feet.
The problem: Because the public transport hub is currently undergoing major renovations, there is no other way to get to the platforms than via the underpass.
“Combination of construction site and rainfall”
The ÖBB already knows the problem: “An unfortunate combination of construction site and rainfall. We are working to solve and solve the problem. A pump is also in use to pump out future surface water. Unfortunately, it was temporarily out of operation which caused some water to stand up again.”
