Two young men (17 and 19) made a deal with two girls – one aged 14, the other only eleven years old: sex for ecstasy. The two were therefore found guilty of sexual abuse by the criminal court in Vienna on Thursday. They were sentenced to three years in prison.
They would have lured the girls, who live in a social facility of the youth care office, into an apartment in Vienna-Meidling in November 2022 with the prospect of ecstasy pills. Then there were the sexual acts. The girls would have agreed to this. There was no violence. But it is still sexual abuse, the prosecutor made clear. The court now considered it proven. The decision is only partially final.
Suspect caught dealing
In itself, the 17-year-old was due to stand trial for sexual assault on April 4 – but he stayed away from the hearing. Unlike the older suspect, the 17-year-old was not initially detained. However, just a week later, on April 11, he was caught dealing drugs near Keplerplatz, so he has now been taken into custody and this time brought before a jury to decide the guilt and punishment of both boys.
The prosecutor spoke of a “documented failure of society towards adolescents”. Because both the girls, who come from extremely problematic family backgrounds and met in a crisis center, and the boys would never have experienced “security and stability”.
