Two women were seriously injured in a head-on collision on Tiroler Fernpassstraße near Heiterwang (Reutte district) on Saturday evening. The local and the Hungarian had to be flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
Both women were driving their car on the Fernpass road at around 6:40 pm when it crashed: For reasons that have not yet been clarified, the 46-year-old Hungarian and the local (79) collided head-on, with a vehicle thrown off the road. The Hungarian was trapped in her car and had to be freed by the fire brigade with rescue scissors. Like the 79-year-old, she had suffered serious injuries.
Both women were flown by rescue helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck. The B179 remained completely closed for more than an hour after the accident. Police are currently investigating how the collision happened.
