Major alarm at an asylum seekers’ center in Lieboch (Graz-surrounding district) Friday morning: a Kazakh pulled out a knife during an argument and seriously injured an opponent. The perpetrator fled, but was caught as part of an alarm search.
The incident is said to have occurred around 9:30 am at the asylum shelter in Lieboch, south of Graz. Two residents got into an argument for unknown reasons. A 29-year-old Kazakh wounded his opponent (probably from Ukraine, according to the police) with a knife.
Caught alert
The suspect then fled. As part of an immediate large-scale manhunt, the suspect was caught a short time later by the rapid intervention group near the crime scene. The 30-year-old victim was transferred to the LKH Univ. taken to Graz Clinic. According to the treating doctors, the man’s condition is stable and there is no danger to life.
The National Investigation Department has since taken over the investigation. At the first interrogation, the suspect did not confess.
