Start the day with your favorite song? What sounds pretty relaxed, unfortunately has certain pitfalls. Some Google smartphone owners are currently having to go through this painful experience. Because: the iconic start of a mega hit puts the alarm function of the devices out of action.
Only recently, Google introduced an actually quite practical feature on its Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 smartphones: the device’s voice control allows alarms to be turned off very simply with the words “stop” or “snooze” – without previously needing them words “Ok Google”. However, the feature was fatal for a “Reddit” user. As the portal “Android Police” reported, the alarm clock on the user’s smartphone repeatedly turned off by itself.

So after the alarm clock didn’t seem to go off for several days, he set out to find the problem – and found it in the song selection. His alarm clock music playlist included the world famous song “Where Is My Mind?” of the Pixies – and the song has a catch.
Right into the intro, the elongated “Oooh” is followed by a break with the word “Stop” – only then does the music begin to play. And this is where the supposed digital assistant comes in: the system sees the part of the song as a prompt and stops the alarm before it’s actually started – and the alarm remains silent.
Google doesn’t immediately recognize a number as a number
Apparently only the Pixies number is affected, as “Android Police” explained based on a self-experiment. The trick here: the ‘stop’ in ‘Where Is My Mind?
This also coincides with the experiences of other “Reddit” users who complained that the language assistant did not respond when music was heard.
Pixies apologizes
News of the missing alarm caused such an uproar that even the band Pixies reacted to the incident. The band apologized via Twitter with the words “Sorry” – accompanied by the symbols of an alarm clock, a smartphone and a stop sign. At least her fans took the news with humor.
