It’s about the fifth visit that makes the head of the European executive from Ukraine to Ukraine Russian invasion on 24 February 2022 and coincides with Europe Day; holiday of the European Union that the Ukrainian authorities will celebrate every May 9 from today, turning their back on the Soviet tradition of commemorating the day of victory over Nazism.
In his Twitter account, von der Leyen has stated that “it is good to be back in Kiev, where the values we cherish are defended every day”, for this reason he felt it is “such a suitable place to celebrate Europe Day”.
