LAB, for its part, has called for a strike in the homes for the next 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 May; while CC. oo. has called for a stop on May 22, 23 and 24 and June 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
The ELA union starts tomorrow a new strike in the houses from the elders in Bizkaia to the next May 25 to demand the sectoral agreement and the end of working conditions that prevent workers from “making it to the end of the month”.
The workers of these centers complain that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the sector’s employers’ associations (Gesca, Lares and ELBE) “still show no will” to reach an agreement and have warned that “they will continue the fight” until they reach an agreement that meets their requirements.
The collective claims a raise which allows “real steps” to be taken compared to existing working conditions in non-privatised care services. It also asks the work stability guaranteeing full shifts, replacement of female employees from day one and reduction of working hours for people over 60 years old.
The representative of ELA Iratxe Viejo criticized the attitude of the Basque government in this conflict a week ago, saying that it represented the interests of the employer and made the mobilization “invisible” with the extension of minimum services that make it impossible for the right to strike more than 80% of the sector”.
On the other hand, LABORATORY has called for strikes in homes for the next 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 days of May; while DC. oo. has called for a stop on May 22, 23 and 24 and June 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
