On Tuesday afternoon, a serious accident occurred at a recreation center in Koglhof near Birkfeld in Eastern Styria – two girls (14 and 15 years old) suffered serious injuries. They had to be taken to the regional hospital in Graz by rescue helicopters (C12, C16).
The accident happened around 2 p.m. The two girls from Vienna rode down to the valley on a sleigh. After a left turn, the two students fell off the track for unknown reasons. The drivers of the next sleigh (also students from Vienna) could not brake in time and collided with the sleigh of the two Viennese women, which was still lying on the track.
Serious leg injuries
After initial treatment by the Birkfeld Red Cross, both girls were airlifted to the Graz regional hospital with serious leg injuries. The Birkfeld Police Inspectorate is now investigating the facts further.
