Fortunately, the life of a 19-year-old who had previously fallen on the railway was saved by a Viennese police officer who happened to be on the road at the train station in Vienna-Liesing.
The police officer was on his way to work on Tuesday afternoon when he heard several calls for help on his way to Liesing train station. According to police, a clearly disoriented 19-year-old was on the trail. He also had a head wound that had been bleeding profusely. He didn’t hear the screams of passersby, so he kept walking around on the tracks.

Law enforcement recognized the seriousness of the situation and summarily jumped onto the tracks to rescue the man. A courageous 26-year-old passerby also came to the aid of the police officer to quickly get the injured man off the rails.

Fortunately, the two rescuers managed to get the 19-year-old out of harm’s way. Shortly afterwards, the police officer alerted the emergency services to provide the man with medical care as soon as possible. The 19-year-old was then taken to hospital.
