“In the dark I won again” – with these words, the Italian former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (86) left the hospital after a long treatment. A “nightmare” is now over. He thanked the supporters of his party Forza Italia for their sympathy.
“I am finally home after 45 long days and my return has warmed the hearts of our extended family. An incredible feeling, a great relief.” It was an “tormenting and difficult time”, “but in the dark I won again”, the media entrepreneur wrote.
Thank you for “loving thoughts”
“Thanks to God and all of you, I have never felt alone and have continued to find hope and confidence. The nightmare is over and after reading the many congratulations I have received I would like to thank everyone who thought of me fondly,” he said.
Berlusconi was hospitalized in early April. He spent twelve days in intensive care due to chronic leukemia and pneumonia. He was then able to leave intensive care and be transferred to a normal ward.
The right-wing populist has been struggling with health problems for years. At the end of 2020 he fell ill with Corona and pneumonia. In the years before, he had to be hospitalized because of a urinary tract infection. In 2016, he underwent heart surgery. From 1994 to 2011, he managed Italy’s fortune with interruptions.
