Five days of strikes have been declared, from December 11 to 15, to demand that the employers of Kristau Eskola and AICE-IZEA sign a new agreement. The centers met with the Ministry of Education to ask for intervention in the conflict, but made no progress.
The trade unions ELA, Steilas, CC. OO., LAB and UGT have encouraged the teaching staff of educational centers with social initiative to participate “en masse” in the five days’ strike between called December 11 and 15 then, after the meeting with the Ministry of Education ended without progress.
According to what the organizing unions have reported, three of the five days are planned demonstrations in Bilbao, San Sebastián and Vitoria-Gasteiz, while on the 13th and 15th they will demonstrate in front of the headquarters of the Basque government in Bilbao (Gran Vía 85).
On the first day, December 11, the marches start at 11:30 am at the Escolapios School in Bilbao, at the Aldapeta Maria School in San Sebastián and at the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Previously, pickets and mobilizations will be carried out in all areas, as reported by ELA in a statement.
The The central offices met with the department led by Jokin Bildarratz, so that it intervenes to channel the conflict ‘generated’ by Kristau Eskola and AICE-IZEA. “The ministry also has the responsibility to monitor transparency regarding the sources of financing of the coordinated schools, and to guarantee adequate working conditions for employees,” they stated. The ministry emphasized that the responsibility to negotiate the agreement lies with the sector’s unions and employers.
The unions have recalled that the teachers of these centers have already struck for three days in October to demand content for the signing of a new agreement, and that they do not want to repeat the path they had to follow to sign the previous one. (they carried out strikes for 29 days in three corridors).
