An asylum seeker beat up road users in Helfenberg in Upper Austria. A doctor (56) who cycled through the village was also the target of his attacks. The attacker, a 39-year-old Syrian, is known to authorities.
In the center of Helfenberg, a doctor (56) happened to be the victim of an aggressive asylum seeker on his bicycle. The Syrian – he would have drunk six beers beforehand – was walking on the road and had stopped the doctor.
“Didn’t you learn at school that you shouldn’t drive so fast in the neighborhood,” the 39-year-old threatened. When the doctor tried to explain to him that he was actually allowed to drive 50 km/h, but could not reach this speed with his mountain bike, the Syrian brutally punched him in the face.
Drivers also attacked
“Because of the whiplash syndrome, I felt sick,” said the doctor. Immediately afterwards police officers arrived and had been called for help by drivers who allegedly stopped the asylum seeker and hit their vehicles and the drivers themselves.
Trial period is still running
The drunkard has been reported by the police on suspicion of assault. He is not unknown, in August 2021 – also in Helfenberg – he used a hoe on the car of Manfred F. (70) from St. Stefan/W. punched and gave him a black eye. The result: a three-month suspended sentence (with three years’ probation).
