A 39-year-old had reported from the Sill Gorge on Saturday evening: he had injured himself on the way to a party. Despite two searches and the use of a drone and the police helicopter, the man could not be found. Now the search has come to an unusual end: the man was found at home.
A large-scale search for a 39-year-old missing person in the Sill Gorge south of Innsbruck came to an unusual end on Saturday. The local resident was found at home by police and said he was asleep. The 39-year-old apparently got lost in the Sill Gorge, so he raised the alarm, but eventually found his way home.
He called 911 himself
The man had called the emergency number himself around 01:30 a.m. and reported to the Tyrol control room, but could no longer be reached later. He stated that he went to a party on his way to the Sill Gorge and that he injured himself. According to the control center, the injury was not too bad.
There should never have been a party
The result was a large-scale search involving, among others, the Innsbruck mountain rescue service and firefighters. A drone was also deployed. The 39-year-old’s mobile phone was further away, but the man was not found during the night. The search was called off around 5:30 am. There would also be no party, as reported by the person being searched. At around 10:30 am, the emergency services finally went out again, as the 39-year-old had not yet appeared at the time and could not be reached by mobile phone. In the end, however, the mystery of the “disappearance” was solved by the 39-year-old being found at home
