On the world’s largest sand island of K’gari (Australia), four tourists were attacked by aggressive dingoes within a week. There were also three children. The parking authority has responded with patrols and other warning signs.
Dingoes are dog-like predators that live mainly in Australia and are among the attractions on the island off the east coast. They howl like wolves and are protected on K’gari. It always comes down to attacks on people, but they usually end lightly.
The most recent incident took place on Saturday. A child aged two was bitten on the leg by a dingo in a car park near the famous Lake McKenzie. It was only on Thursday that a Dingo bit a four-year-old girl on the shoulder while she was swimming in the flats. A few days earlier, a woman and a child walking on a beach with her family were attacked.
“Weakest Members of the Platoon”
The emergency service announced that no one was seriously injured. The parking authority responded with increased patrols and other warning signs. In addition, parents were asked to take special care of their children and carry sticks to defend themselves. “Some dingoes attack children because they view them as the weaker members of the pack,” said Chief Ranger Linda Behrendorff.
