US primaries
In addition to Trump and Pence, Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley also appear on the large list of Republican candidates. Pence will officially launch his candidacy with a speech next Wednesday in Iowa.
The former Vice President of the United States, the Republican Mike Pence (2017-2021), presented the documentation to the US Federal Election Commission on Monday to contest his party’s primaries for the 2024 presidential election, confirming that he will compete with his former ally donald trump.
Pence plans to officially launch his candidacy with a speech next Wednesday in Iowa, one of the key states of the primary, according to media reports.
Pence was a close ally of Trump during Trump’s four-year term, but their partnership was cut short after allegations of voter fraud by the then president, which were dismissed in all judicial instances.
Trump in charge
In addition to Trump and Pence, they are also on the big list of Republican candidates Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley. Polls show Trump leading the Republican affiliations (53%), followed by DeSantis (26%) and with Pence a modest third (6%).
In recent months, Pence has made several visits to key primary states such as South Carolina or New Hampshire, though his main focus has been on Iowa, the primary home of the Republican Party primary.
