A surprising legacy puts the Alpen-Adria-Universität in Klagenfurt in the fortunate position of being able to award scholarships to less fortunate students. Interested parties can register for this for the first time this year. The money for this comes from a private foundation.
Erich Ciesciutti, son of the Rosental writer Johann Ciesciutti (1906 – 1997), donated an impressive 1.8 million euros to the university in a will shortly before his death. In it, the then 81-year-old decreed that the money should be used for university purposes. It was created in a charitable foundation for particularly deserving students. According to the will, research prizes should also be awarded for energy supply work.
