In an interview with krone.tv, Ukraine’s ambassador to Austria, Vasyl Khymynets, sharply criticized the “Vienna Peace Summit” taking place on Saturday. Based on the content, he believes that Russia exerts influence on this.
For him, the conference was “clearly in line with Russian propaganda,” said the ambassador. The “peace pseudo-activists” would only justify “the crimes of Russia and this war”. The conference organizers would not “demand the complete withdrawal of all Russian troops,” which Khymynets said was necessary for peace.
ÖGB invited “Peace Summit” after criticism
There was already criticism in the run-up to the ‘peace summit’. The event should have taken place on the grounds of the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB). However, because there was criticism about the content and the guests of the conference, the ÖGB withdrew the provision of the premises without further ado. The event now takes place over the weekend in Vienna-Penzing.
