Fatal alpine accident on Friday in Ausserfern in Tyrol: A 26-year-old German was hit on the head by a “football-sized” stone during a climbing tour in Nesselwängle and was seriously injured. The man had to be rescued from the wall by helicopter.

The German was climbing with two compatriots in the area of ​​the Zwerchenwand in Nesselwängle on Friday afternoon when a stone the size of a football suddenly fell down. The 26-year-old was hit directly in the head. He suffered serious injuries.

The climber was eventually rescued from the wall by a rescue helicopter crew and flown to the Garmisch Clinic in Bavaria.
