An animal abuser has released a royal python in a cloth bag, which he put in a black box, at the sports center of Mürzzuschlag. A woman saw the exotic snake and took it to the police. A suitable place is now being sought for the animal.
On June 4, a woman made a special find at the waste containers on the Auweg near the Mürzzuschlag sports field: next to the waste bins, her eye fell on a black box. When she opened it, she found a cloth bag containing a thick thing that moved slowly.
Finder took snake to the police
The woman brutally grabbed the bag and took it to the police station. The officers shined a flashlight on the bag and quickly agreed that the contents must have been a snake.
“Allow bags!”
It was again a matter for reptile and amphibian expert Werner Stangl from Graz. “Allow bags!” was his instruction. He then contacted Peter Ulm of the Styrian Reptile Association, who collected the animal. The fabric bag has been opened in a safe environment and by mutual agreement. Out came a brightly colored ball python, about three feet long!
Animal cruelty complaint
Apparently the animal was carelessly abandoned by its owner. That is why the police have now launched an investigation on suspicion of animal abuse, press spokesman Fritz Grundnig confirms. The ball python is currently with Peter Ulm, but should be given a place with a knowledgeable enthusiast in the near future. Anyone who can and wants to keep it in a species-specific way should contact Werner Stangl by email: werner.stangl@chello.at
