Even a day after the horror at the Neuschwanstein fairytale castle, holidaymakers are still in shock. A tourist from the US is said to have thrown two young women into a ravine. Police are now hoping for numerous photos and videos from the vicinity of the crime scene. There is already a young witness. He was able to witness the arrest of the suspect up close…
On request, Eric Abneri, a 21-year-old man from New York, provided the “Krone” with video footage of the arrest of the alleged Neuschwanstein killer on Thursday. The videos arouse horror, because this man (see video below) is said to have pushed two women aged 21 and 22 out of the Pöllat gorge near Neuschwanstein Castle. Previously, he would have sexually assaulted the younger of the two.
According to the police, the 30-year-old has been detained since Thursday on suspicion of murder. A spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office said that the suspect did make a statement during the handover to the examining magistrate. Initially, however, he did not provide any information about the content of the man’s statement. The US State Department said it was aware of the matter.
The younger victim died in hospital on Thursday evening from his serious injuries.
The witness was actually traveling to Europe
The shock is also deep with Erik Abneri: “We still don’t get it,” says the New Yorker in an interview with bild.de. The young American is currently traveling to Europe and was traveling near the castle with two friends from Munich at the time of the crime.
“We saw the first helicopter operation as soon as we entered the castle. We were far away, I just saw that the person was wearing a blue shirt or something,” Abneri told Bild. The three young men had no idea what really happened at the time. However, the 21-year-old documented everything on camera – including the arrest of the alleged killer.
Only found out about the horror act on the internet
Only a day later did the three learn about the terrible incident via social media: “Of course we looked up what happened on the internet. The more we think about it now, the stranger it feels.’ Aberni assumed the operation was just a break-in. “The man was shockingly calm. He didn’t talk, just stared straight ahead and was easily led away.”
The detectives are of course hoping for more photos and videos from the area surrounding the crime scene. These can be uploaded to a special portal. Even if the alleged perpetrator or the two attacked tourists happened to only be seen on the material, that could help the investigation. “We hope that this will provide more clarity about the situation before and after the crime,” said a police spokesperson.
Video material is currently being evaluated
Police assume there is other material besides Erik Abneri’s videos – but it takes people a while to get to the scene on the day of the crime. According to a spokesperson, only a dozen photos and videos had been submitted by Friday morning. Evaluate them now.
