Spectacular traffic accident late Thursday afternoon in the Tyrolean Unterland: A 67-year-old resident lost control of his car in Westendorf (Kitzbühel district) and crashed into a stone wall. The car overturned and the driver had to be taken to hospital with injuries.
The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. The 67-year-old from the Kitzbühel district was driving on the B170 Brixentalstraße towards Hopfgarten when he suddenly lost control at Westendorf.
The car ended up on the roof after flipping over
“The car went off the road, hit the curb and eventually ended up on the stone wall that rises there. The car then flipped over and came to rest on its roof on the road,” police said.
The pensioner suffered serious injuries. After first aid at the scene of the accident, the man was transported by ambulance to the district hospital in St. Johann. The car was a total loss. The rescue service, the volunteer fire brigade and three police patrols were deployed.
