After the failed uprising of Wagner’s mercenary army, Latvia takes action: the country on the Baltic Sea suspends the issuing of visas for Russians indefinitely.
In view of the “unpredictable development of domestic political events in Russia”, the acceptance of all types of visa applications from Russian citizens at Latvian diplomatic and consular missions abroad has been suspended. This was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Riga on Monday.
Applications submitted to date that have been accepted and processed by June 25 are still awaiting review. Against the background of the Russian war against Ukraine, Latvia had previously restricted the issuance of visas to citizens of the neighboring country – these were issued only in humanitarian cases.
