Nine Montafon municipalities are planning to combine the administration of finance, construction law, human resources, kindergarten and IT in a municipal association.
“A small municipality can no longer cope with the demands alone,” said Vandans mayor Florian Küng. “The tasks she has to deal with are becoming increasingly varied and challenging. Legal rules and bureaucracy are increasing.” Municipalities need much more qualified personnel to keep up with technology. Aside from the fact that these skilled workers are now hard to come by, “a small community cannot afford these workers at all,” notes Küng.
