In Hard near Bregenz (Vorarlberg), a fire broke out on the balcony of an apartment on Saturday evening. Initially, the residents of the apartment building tried to put out the fire themselves, but were unsuccessful, so they called the fire department. It was also the residents themselves who organized a full evacuation before the fire brigade arrived.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire in the apartment on the second floor. Although the residents fully engaged and fueled the fire from the balcony above wanted to fight with fire extinguishers, the fire brigade had to intervene. Even before this was done, some residents organized the evacuation of the apartment building.
The flames quickly spread to other parts of the building. Firefighters had to force open the apartment door and get the fire under control.
No people were injured in the fire incident. However, there was significant property damage to both apartments. The two apartments are uninhabitable.
