After a man was arrested in Vienna-Ottakring on Thursday afternoon for being drunk, the rioting at the police station continued. There, the 39-year-old tried to steal his service weapon from a police officer and hit the back of his head against a wall.
Police officers of the police command of the city of Ottakring were alerted because of an alcoholic and unhinged male person. The man used to throw bottles around. During the interrogation, the identity could not be established.
Wanted to take the service weapon out of the holster
The man, later identified as a 39-year-old Syrian national, became increasingly aggressive as he drove to the nearest police station. His violent behavior eventually peaked at the police station. Suddenly the perpetrator clenched his fists and tried to snatch the Glock 17 service weapon from a police officer’s holster.
The 39-year-old has been arrested. Even after the arrest, the man continued to behave aggressively. He damaged a wall by hitting it twice with the back of his head.
