Devastating accident late Saturday afternoon in Telfs in the Tyrolean Oberland: A 79-year-old fell down a flight of stairs in his home and suffered life-threatening injuries. Because the front door was locked, the arriving police first had to go up the balcony with a ladder. From there, the officers then went to the seriously injured.
The fatal accident happened around 5:15 p.m., according to police. The 79-year-old allegedly tripped and then fell down the first floor stairs to the front door. The pensioner was left lying there with serious injuries.
Relatives in front of a closed door – emergency call!
A relative of the man living alone, who happened to pass by, became aware of the accident and immediately called the emergency call. The next of kin could not help the seriously injured because the front door was locked.
Retiree “in critical condition”
The arriving police officers reacted with presence of mind. They grabbed a ladder and climbed it onto the second-floor balcony. From there they eventually arrived at the house of the seriously injured man. The 79-year-old was eventually taken by ambulance to the Innsbruck clinic in a critical condition.
