Three men were arrested at Vienna’s main train station with more than 16 kilograms of opium in their luggage. The suspects imported the drugs from Tehran via Vienna airport. According to the police, the goods would have a traffic value of around 180,000 euros on Tuesday.
The trio was taken to Korneuburg prison. The criminal investigation department of the state of Lower Austria and the police command of the city of Schwechat had been investigating for months – with success.
According to police, the three men are a 51-year-old and a 42-year-old, both British-Iranian dual nationals, and a 34-year-old Iranian. The opium would be transported to Germany by rail. Two of the suspects confessed during their interrogation, the third refused to testify.
