Hard work, poorly paid: the fate of the field workers who now work in the vegetable harvest, for example, is not easy. Violations of labor rights occur again and again and the union even speaks of exploitation. However, those affected are often dependent on work in Austria.
The setting is somewhere in the north of Burgenland: seasonal workers work in the sweltering heat on the fields, in the vineyards and in the polytunnels. They come mainly from Hungary, but also from Serbia and Ukraine. One of the workers says that despite temperatures around 30 degrees, the employer does not give them water. Some of them do not even earn the legal minimum wage. You are dissatisfied. But the poorly paid job in Burgenland is the only job they have at the moment.
