A serious accident involving two coaches took place in the Czech Republic on Monday. One of the two drivers was killed. More than 70 other people were injured, some seriously.
A spokeswoman for the emergency services said 76 people were injured, 14 of them seriously, according to the CTK agency. The rescuers were deployed with a large contingent, including more than 20 ambulances and several medical teams. Three helicopters took seriously injured people to hospital.
One of the buses was a Flixbus line connection from Budapest to Prague. According to the authorities, an Indian tour group was in the other vehicle. According to the police’s initial findings, this coach drove into the Flixbus on Monday afternoon for reasons that are still unclear.
Highway closed for hours
The accident took place on the D2 highway in South Moravia near Brno, the second largest city in the Czech Republic. The lanes were closed in both directions for hours. Long queues formed.
