A badly damaged car, a battered house wall – but no driver for miles around. This constellation led to a search on Weerberg on Sunday afternoon, but the incident is a mystery for now.
At around 2:25 p.m., a police patrol drove from Schwaz to Weerberg, in the Mitterberg area, due to an e-call distress call triggered by a car. The officials there found a badly damaged car and a badly damaged house wall of a residential building.
Traces showed what was likely to happen
Based on the location of the tracks, it can be assumed that the driver of the car drove head-on into the wall of the house. According to witnesses, the driver got out of the car after the accident and then fled on foot.
Great search began
Due to the heavy damage to the car and because it could not be ruled out that the driver had injured himself, several police forces, the Weerberg volunteer fire brigade and the Red Cross were looking for the driver involved in the accident.
The search was temporarily suspended around 6:30 p.m. due to a lack of clues. Further investigation into the facts is ongoing. Witnesses or the driver of the accident are asked to contact Schwaz Police on 059133/7250.
