Date:

An ÖBB employee and a colleague of a 52-year-old from the St. Veit district in Carinthia were shown a horrifying image. He had lost consciousness while working with highly corrosive chemicals and was dangling ten feet from a fuse on a wagon.

In an industrial company in the St. Veit district, the 52-year-old man performed pumping work on a working platform of a tank car in the morning. He may then have lost consciousness from the fumes of the highly corrosive chemical.

Employees found an unconscious man
“But due to the prescribed fall protection, he did not fall to the ground and got stuck on top of the car,” the police said. “In this situation he was found by an ÖBB employee and a colleague.”

resuscitation failed
The 52-year-old was immediately lifted back onto the platform where the men began CPR. “He was then rescued by the FF Althofen with a revolving ladder and taken to the Klagenfurt clinic by ambulance with resuscitation,” the police continued. Unfortunately, only the death of the victim could be determined there. Because the exact course of the accident is not yet clear, an autopsy was ordered.
