In an industrial company in the St. Veit district, the 52-year-old man performed pumping work on a working platform of a tank car in the morning. He may then have lost consciousness from the fumes of the highly corrosive chemical.

“But due to the prescribed fall protection, he did not fall to the ground and got stuck on top of the car,” the police said. “In this situation he was found by an ÖBB employee and a colleague.”

The 52-year-old was immediately lifted back onto the platform where the men began CPR. “He was then rescued by the FF Althofen with a revolving ladder and taken to the Klagenfurt clinic by ambulance with resuscitation,” the police continued.
