In the night from Wednesday to Wednesday, heavy storms raged not only in Austria, but also in neighboring Italy. Damage was reported, among others, from the Friulian provinces of Udine and Gorizia in the northeast of the country. South Tyrol was also hit.
Roofs were damaged, trees and power poles fell over. The armed forces in the regions of Udine and Gorizia reported wind gusts of up to 130 kilometers per hour. More than 5,000 households were temporarily without power. According to the agricultural association Coldiretti, there were also 24 hailstorms in northeastern Italy.
A Hungarian tourist couple, who got into trouble on Tuesday evening due to the storm, has been located at an altitude of 2400 meters and brought to safety. In the Adriatic port town of Monfalcone, an 80-year-old woman has been rescued after a tree branch hit her car. The fire service received hundreds of reports.

A worker in South Tyrol was less fortunate. He was hit by a falling tree in Terlano and was seriously injured. The storm front brought passing thunderstorms, heavy rain, squalls and hail. 4500 flashes were registered, the fire brigade had to turn out about 300 times in South Tyrol.
