High-end smartphones have been getting bigger and bigger in recent years, and diagonals over six inches are now the norm. It is no longer particularly handy and pocket-friendly, but at Asus one supplier distinguishes itself through the 6.x-inch uniformity. With the Zenfone 9, the high-tech group from Taiwan has a high-end smartphone with strong technology in a 5.9-inch chassis in its range. And Krone Plus subscribers have a chance to win one.
Asus has given its noble 5G compact class technology that is otherwise only found in relatively large Android smartphones. This includes the fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 main processor with eight cores running at up to 3.2 gigahertz, plus eight gigabytes of RAM, 128 or 256 gigabytes of flash memory depending on the model, and a dust and water-resistant enclosure that meets the IP68 standard. The highlight is a bright and optically stabilized 50 megapixel dual camera.
OLED technology, modern radio, audio jack
With the pleasantly compact 5.9-inch screen, so that the entire 169-gram device is only 146 by 68 by 9 millimeters in size, Asus relies on OLED technology with a high refresh rate of 120 Hertz and HDR support. The operating system is Android 13. The 4300 mAh battery is charged via USB-C.
Modern radio equipment with Wi-Fi 6E and 5G, stereo sound and a finger scanner integrated in the unlock button round off the first-class equipment. Almost a unique selling point in the upper class these days, the Zenfone 9 still has a 3.5 millimeter jack for wired headphone friends.
