Trump will be tried for the classified documents in May 2024, in the middle of the presidential campaign

Date:

Judge Aileen Cannon has set the trial to begin on May 20, 2024, a decision the former president considers “a major setback.”

The judge Aileen cannon has established that the process donald trump for the classified documents found at his Florida home begin May 20, 2024, a decision the former president has deemed “a major setback.”

According to a statement signed by a “spokesman” for the former president (2017-2021), US President Joe Biden is trying to use the Justice Department against his main political rival, but he will fail in his “disgraceful and un-American abuse of power” and Trump will retake the White House in the 2024 election.

His defense had asked Cannon to postpone the undated trial until after that election date.

In a court document included today in the summary of the case, Judge Cannon set the May 20 date for the start of the trial and also ordered a hearing to be held on May 14, 2024, to discuss the calendar and other details of the trial, which was originally scheduled to begin on August 14.

The prosecution had asked for it to be postponed until December 11 and also asked Judge Cannon not to accept the defense’s proposal to leave the trial until after the election process was completed.

The trial will take place in the federal courts of Fort Pierce, a city about 125 miles north of Miami where Cannon exercises her position as a judge, for which she was nominated by Trump in 2020, when he was president.
