Recently, there were two knife attacks in Vienna: a man’s body was left on a park bench in mid-July, and a homeless woman was stabbed in a park on Sunday. However, the woman was saved. So far there is no trace of the culprit. Police are currently investigating whether the two cases are related.
The shock was great after a body was found on July 12 by a passer-by on the Danube in the area of the oftreppenweg near Handelskai. The homeless man had six cuts and stab wounds on his body. The criminals assume that his body was placed on the park bench or that the 56-year-old went there himself. In any case, the location of the find on the stairway must not be the crime scene.
There is no arrest or possible suspect in this case yet. The investigations are still ongoing.
Another brutal knife attack
Almost two weeks later, the next knife attack occurred. This time it was a homeless woman sleeping in a green spot in Venice Au Park near an exit to the Praterstern subway station. The 51-year-old was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and pelvic area. The seriously injured woman was able to move in the direction of the Praterstern before receiving medical attention from the Viennese professional rescue service and being taken to a hospital. The life of the homeless is not in danger.
Woman confirms male perpetrator
An initial questioning of the victim at the hospital yielded no further clues. The woman only stated that it was a male perpetrator.
Two cases – one perpetrator?
Nevertheless, the parallels that exist in both cases cannot be denied. That’s why the police checkI linked the case almost two weeks ago.
