Following a series of incidents in Japanese aviation, the wings of two planes collided at Osaka’s domestic airport. The wing tips “scratched” against each other while maneuvering at Osaka Itami Airport on Thursday, a spokesman for airport operator Kansai Airports said.
The incident involving the two All Nippon Airways planes occurred shortly after 10 a.m. at the domestic terminal of Itami Airport in Osaka.
“We were told that the wingtips of two ANA aircraft grazed each other,” the spokesperson said.
No injuries
According to local media, neither passengers nor crew members were injured. The accident is the latest in a series of accidents involving Japanese aircraft and airports since the beginning of the year.
Serious accident on January 2
The worst accident occurred on January 2 at Haneda Airport, when a Japan Airlines plane collided with a smaller Coast Guard plane.
All 379 people on board the JAL Airbus were able to escape before the plane caught fire. Five of the six people aboard the smaller plane were killed.
