Special assignment for the volunteer fire brigade Gurk. You had to rescue a horse from an island in the middle of the river. The animal had previously escaped from the paddock.
A passerby saw the Frisian on the island in the Gurk on Monday and raised the alarm. While rescuers were on their way, the woman climbed over pieces of washed-up wood to calm the startled animal. The horse had previously escaped from a paddock and was dragged about 700 meters by the Gurk’s strong current before it was able to save itself on the island.
The Gurk fire brigade was deployed with twelve men to bring the horse safely ashore with a rescue rope. The woman and the four-legged friend were unharmed.
