Almost all of Purkersdorf in the Vienna Woods is a short-term parking zone – but this is only indicated by an inconspicuous sign! A driver complained that better signage is now being considered.
With large zones for short-term parking, communities in the Vienna region are defending themselves against the “park sticker refugees”. In Purkersdorf, too, large parts of the area are now paid parking. However, what the Viennese Helga K. did not know – and found a ticket after shopping in Purkersdorf.
She was surprised, had seen no indication of the short-term parking zone. It was only during a tour that she noticed a sign at the entrance to the city that drew attention to this. “As a driver you don’t notice this sign at 50 km/h,” says the Viennese irritably.
She only found out about the possibility of free parking for three hours if you set a parking meter on the municipality’s website. After the woman’s complaint, better signage is being considered.
