Date:

Severe storms with heavy rainfall caused mudslides, flooded cellars and roadblocks in the Tyrolean Lechtal on Sunday evening. Among other things, the mountain pass over the Hahntennjoch had to be closed. The fire department was constantly on the go.

Especially the villages of Bach and Stockach and Elbigenalp were hit by the storm with heavy rainfall on Sunday evening. “There were floods and small mudslides. The B198 Lechtalstraße had to be closed for two hours between Bach and Stockach due to a mudslide, the police said.

The fire service provided a local diversion. In addition, several cellars were flooded.

Mudslides also at the Hahntennjoch
The Hahntennjoch mountain pass, which connects the Lechtal with the Imst district, also had to be closed due to mudslides. According to police records, no one was injured.

Only on Saturday evening did two mudslides fall on the Kaunertaler Gletscherstraße in the Tyrolean Kaunertal. A 19-year-old local resident was in the cell with her car in between. The emergency services had found her car during the search. “She was unharmed and was able to retreat to an area and seek shelter there,” police said.
